About The Guests

Ganiya Sadiq

Ganiyat Sadiq is a Nigerian-Canadian advocate and researcher dedicated to addressing systemic barriers faced by marginalized communities. She is the Co-Founder and former Co-Executive Officer External of the Black Inclusion Association. Ganiyat holds a Master’s in International Affairs from Carleton University, specializing in International Development Policy and African Studies. She holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in Honours Political Science and International Relations from the University of Calgary, as well as a Certificate in Pluralism and Global Citizenship. Currently, Ganiyat is pursuing her PhD in Global Governance with an Interdisciplinary Graduate Diploma in Climate Change. From February 2023 to March 2025, Ganiyat served on the Prime Minister’s Youth Council.

Habiba Diallo – Leading The Panel

Habiba Diallo is the author of #BLACKINSCHOOL (University of Regina Press). She is the inaugural winner of the Senator Don Oliver Black Voices Prize for literary talent. She was a finalist in the 2020 Bristol Short Story Prize, the 2019 Writers’ Union of Canada Short Prose Competition, and the 2018 London Book Fair Pitch Competition. Her Netflix-sponsored debut short film, Black In School, was inspired by her book and made the official selection of film festivals across Canada. She is an activist in support of women’s maternal health. The federal government of Canada recognized Habiba as an outstanding woman in 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in African Studies from the University of London (SOAS) and a postgraduate certificate in Public Health.

Shoot For Peace

Shoot For Peace is a non-profit organization with the mission of community healing through art. We aim to deliver community programming that makes art accessible to underserved youth and launch a generation of storytellers empowered by their identities and experiences, prepared for success.

Aqsha Adam

Aqsha is the founder and CEO of AYDA, a personal health and spiritual wellness app built for Muslim women. She is also the Director of Programming at Shoot for Peace, and is deeply passionate about supporting Muslim communities. She works to create spaces where Muslim women can heal, grow, and thrive.

Layla Berih

Layla is a community organizer and Program Coordinator at Shoot for Peace. She has spent over 10 years working with youth in the downtown core, supporting them through sports, education, and mental health resources. In her current role as Program Coordinator and Studio Manager, she supports youth in developing creative projects, building interpersonal skills, and addressing broader community needs.

Zenah Hussun

Along with her lived experience as a Black Muslim woman, Zenah is a young changemaker that has a direct pulse on issues and experiences of Black and racialized communities. It comes from 7+ years, working in community, for various organizations including Hidayaah House, Flemingdon Health Centre. She’s co-founded a non-profit, Th3rd Space to support youth development, to say the least.
