Ginella Massa
Ginella Massa is an award-winning Canadian broadcaster, media consultant and sought after public speaker. Ginella graduated with an Honours BA in Communication Studies at York University and has a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College. She has worked in both TV and radio, behind the scenes and on air at many of Canada’s major networks, including CTV, CityNews, and CBC. She is best known for making history as North America’s first hijab-wearing national television news anchor, as the host of “Canada Tonight with Ginella Massa,” which aired in primetime on the national public broadcaster in 2021.
As a Media Consultant and CEO of her own PR Firm, Massa Media and Communication, Ginella helps her clients build strong communications plans through both traditional and social media. She also has a passion for working with local community groups and nonprofits, helping bridge the media literacy gap, and changing the narrative of marginalized communities. With over 150 thousand followers across her social media channels, she regularly uses her platform to discuss everything from media literacy, to modest fashion, to life as a Millennial Muslim Mom.
Amira Elghawaby
Amira Elghawaby, journalist and human rights advocate, served as Canada’s first ever Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia between 2023 to 2026.
During her historic tenure, Ms. Elghawaby provided strategic advice to the Government of Canada on legislation, policies, and programs impacting Canadian Muslim communities. Additionally, Ms. Elghawaby worked to raise public awareness on the challenges Islamophobia poses to Canada’s shared values, championing human rights, freedom of religion and inclusion on national and global platforms, including at the United Nations.
In spring 2025, her Office published The Canadian Guide to Understanding and Combatting Islamophobia, the first of its kind to be launched by a national government.
In 2025, Ms. Elghawaby was awarded the King Charles Coronation Medal for her leadership.
