The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) offers three scholarships to help reduce financial barriers for Muslim women pursuing post-secondary education in Canada. Our scholarships support students who demonstrate academic commitment, leadership, and community involvement — investing in their education and their ability to create meaningful change.

CCMW offers several scholarships that support Muslim women pursuing post-secondary education in Canada, including the Alia Hogben Scholarship, Lila Fahlman Scholarship, and Black Muslimah Shining Scholarship. Each scholarship recognizes leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement.
The Lila Fahlman Scholarship is an award established in memory of Dr. Lila Fahlman, a distinguished educator and founder of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW). It provides financial support to Canadian Muslim women pursuing higher education, supported through donations from the community and sponsors. Each scholarship awarded is valued at $2,500.
The Alia Hogben Scholarship is an award established in 2025, in memory of Alia Hogben, a trained social worker, Order of Canada recipient, and longtime Executive Director of CCMW. It supports Muslim women pursuing social work studies at a Canadian college or university. This scholarship is valued at $3,000 and is paid directly to the recipient.
The Black Muslimah Shining Scholarship is an initiative by the Canadian Council of Muslim Women that supports the education and empowerment of Black Muslimah students in Canada. The scholarship is part of CCMW’s broader Black Muslimahs Shining campaign, which celebrates the leadership, achievements, and voices of Black Muslim women while helping remove financial barriers to education.
This scholarship is valued at $2,500 and is paid directly to the recipient.

Yes. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria for more than one CCMW scholarship may apply for multiple awards through the same application form. However, only one award will be granted per recipient.
