The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) is deeply saddened by the tragic shooting in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood that claimed the lives of police officer Mohamed Lamine Benredouane and community member Michel Mizrahi, and left others injured.
We extend our deepest condolences to their families, loved ones, friends, and colleagues as they navigate an unimaginable loss. Our thoughts are also with the injured officer and civilian, and we wish them strength and a full recovery in the days ahead.
Moments like these shake entire communities. As Montreal mourns, we stand in solidarity with all those affected by this tragedy and hold them in our thoughts and prayers.
As an organization committed to the safety, dignity, and well-being of Muslim women and girls, CCMW also reaffirms our rejection of all forms of hatred, violence, and misogyny. No woman or girl should have to fear for her safety because of her gender or because someone chooses hatred over humanity. We remain committed to building communities where women and girls can live, work, and move through the world in safety and peace.
May Mohamed Lamine Benredouane and Michel Mizrahi be remembered for the lives they lived, the people they loved, and the impact they had on those around them.
