Dr. Uzma Bhutto, trained as a physician with expertise in public health, is a nationally recognized leader and community builder. For nearly two decades, she has championed equity, mental wellness, and women’s empowerment, supporting Muslim, Black, immigrant, and refugee women, as well as women from all walks of life including survivors of gender-based violence to overcome barriers, achieve economic independence, foster social inclusion, and step into leadership roles while strengthening communities.
Internationally, she contributes to gender-based violence initiatives in Pakistan and China and mentors emerging leaders through Capacity Canada and beyond. Uzma has served as Director of Development and Training at the Coalition of Muslim Women, currently contributes at Kind Minds Family Wellness, and serves on the boards of KidsAbility and the Sexual Assault Support Centre. Her contributions have been recognized with awards including Rogers Women of the Year, the Windmill Empowerment Award, and the Leading Women, Leading Girls, Building Communities Award. She is dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and reshaping narratives of women as leaders and changemakers.
