Red Flag Laws

Red Flag Laws Awareness & Education

This CCMW project focuses on addressing systemic barriers that prevent communities from accessing justice. Women and marginalized communities are disproportionately affected by these gaps, often encountering legal systems that feel inaccessible or unresponsive. This project responds directly to these challenges by making legal knowledge clear, practical, and community-centred.

Why Legal Awareness Matters

Many people are unaware of the legal protections available to prevent harm and support safety. Legal systems can feel complex, intimidating, or out of reach — especially for women and marginalized communities.
This project aims to make legal information clear, practical, and accessible, empowering individuals and communities with knowledge that can help prevent violence and support timely intervention.

Understanding Red Flag Laws

Red Flag Laws are legal tools designed to help prevent gun violence by allowing timely intervention when there is a risk of harm. These laws can provide temporary protections while respecting due process, offering a proactive approach to safety and accountability.

This project provides accessible, plain-language explanations to help communities understand when and how these laws can be used.

Red Flag Law Tool & Skit

An interactive educational tool paired with a short skit that brings real-life scenarios into focus. This component helps participants understand how Red Flag Laws work in practice, what steps can be taken, and how legal intervention can support safety and prevention.

 Legal Remedies Gallery & Workshop

An immersive gallery and workshop experience designed to demystify legal protections related to gun violence prevention and personal safety. Participants engage with visual, educational, and interactive materials that explore legal options and pathways to justice.

Art as Advocacy

This project includes an art exhibit and workshop collaboration that uses creative expression to spark conversation and deepen understanding of gun violence prevention and legal empowerment. Art becomes a powerful entry point for reflection, dialogue, and community connection.
