Praying for Syria and Turkiye

An earthquake struck southern and central Turkiye and northwestern Syria on 6 February 2023. It is one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded in Turkish and Syrian history. The magnitude 7.8 earthquake and a subsequent earthquake of nearly equal strength have reduced homes and other buildings in the region to rubble, resulting in at least 5,000 deaths and thousands of injuries.

CCMW is deeply saddened by this devastating occurrence and prays for all of the victims in Syria and Turkiye who have suffered from the aftermath of the earthquake.

We are heartened by the fact that Canada will be sending $10 million in aid to help with the response to the devastating earthquakes. There are also many aid organizations raising funds to support the people of Turkiye and Syria.
