Ramadan Giving with CCMW

Ramadan is a month of reflection, compassion, and collective responsibility. For CCMW, it is a time to continue to respond directly to the urgent needs of Muslim women in our communities.

This Ramadan, all proceeds raised by CCMW will support the CCMW Emergency Bursary Fund for Muslim women in Canada facing any form of gender-based violence.

Throughout the month, funds will be raised through community partnerships - including our Ramadan date initiative as well as national fundraisers, events, and individual and organizational donations.

Where your donation goes

CCMW Emergency Bursary Fund

The Emergency Bursary Fund provides immediate, compassionate financial support to Muslim women experiencing gender-based violence — often at moments of crisis, when other supports are unavailable or delayed.

Your donation helps women and their families access:

  • Safety & Protection
Emergency housing, transportation, food, and basic necessities

  • Relief from Economic Abuse & Financial Dependency
Support for women with restricted access to money, lost employment, or financial control by abusive partners or family members

  • Access to Legal Services & Justice
Financial support to bridge gaps when Legal Aid is unavailable or delayed, including culturally informed legal help

At its core, the Emergency Bursary Fund restores agency and dignity - allowing women to make independent, life-saving decisions when they need it most.

Make a Double Impact This Ramadan

Ramadan FAQ

  • Ramadan is the holiest month in Islam, observed by Muslims worldwide as a time of fasting, prayer, self-reflection, and community service. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, refraining from food, drink, and other physical needs as an act of spiritual discipline and devotion to God.

  • Ramadan is a time of spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and giving back to those in need. It encourages compassion, gratitude, and generosity, which are values deeply rooted in Islamic teachings.

One of the most important aspects of Ramadan is charity (Zakat & Sadaqah)—Muslims are encouraged to support vulnerable communities, ensuring that everyone can experience dignity and justice.
