Roundtable on Racialized Communities – to develop a strategy for engaging men and boys on gender equality and the status of women (Surrey, BC, 2018)

A representative from Vancouver participated in a roundtable discussion to develop a strategy for engaging men and boys in gender equality with Terry Duguid in Surrey in 2018. The discussion explored the relationship between race, racism, gender, and access to power and privilege. Among the goals of this session were to unpack both how these experiences of discrimination and bias impact the way racialized men and boys understand and experience gender and how to effectively engage individuals from diverse communities to advance gender equality.

We had a workshop called Engaging Men and Boys to End Violence in the Family. Men and boys were encouraged to attend this workshop, and the discussion was very different looking from both lenses.
