Sarah Anderson is a white, queer, cisgender woman who lives in Hamilton, Ontario on the unceded territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the traditional territory of Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat, and Anishinabek. She is a Registered Midwife who began clinical practice in 2015. Through her work as an outreach midwife with the ORACLE team in Ottawa from 2020-2022, she strived to reduce barriers to perinatal care, advocate for clients, and provide safe and supportive care through trauma-informed and anti-oppression frameworks. In 2023, she earned a Master’s degree in Health Policy and Equity from York University. Her original research focused on social and structural determinants of perinatal health and the role of midwifery in caring for marginalized populations. Sarah is passionate about reproductive justice and harm reduction, and she was thrilled to join Action Canada’s frontline team in December 2023 to bring her experience, skills, and enthusiasm to the amazing work being done. She is now the Director of Health Promotion with the organization.
