Red Flag Laws
Red Flag Laws Awareness & Education
Red Flag Laws Awareness & Education is a Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) project focused on breaking down legal barriers and making justice more accessible. Through education, creative engagement, and community dialogue, the project helps people understand legal protections – including Red Flag Laws – and how they can be used to prevent gun violence.
Many people are unaware of the legal protections available to prevent harm and support safety. Legal systems can feel complex, intimidating, or out of reach — especially for women and marginalized communities.
This project aims to make legal information clear, practical, and accessible – empowering individuals and communities with knowledge that can help prevent violence and support timely intervention.
Red Flag Laws are legal tools designed to help prevent gun violence by allowing timely intervention when there is a risk of harm. These laws can provide temporary protections while respecting due process, offering a proactive approach to safety and accountability.
This project provides accessible, plain-language explanations to help communities understand when and how these laws can be used.
Education is a critical step toward prevention and justice. Engage with this project by attending events, exploring our tools, and participating in community dialogue.
