WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECTS OF YOUR WORK SO FAR?

I’ve always appreciated the art of storytelling and this platform has given me the opportunity to use storytelling as a vessel to promote change. I’ve been able to talk about intersectional identities, Islamophobia, anti-Black racism, mental health stigma and a variety of topics on this platform. The most rewarding aspects of this work is hearing from people that they finally feel seen.

WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE MORE CHALLENGING ASPECTS?

Honestly, I didn’t realize how cruel people can be online especially those that are Anti-Black and Islamophobic. In the beginning, it was really tough getting accustomed to hateful messages. But I’ve learned overtime that the best way to keep my peace is CUT, BLOCK AND DELETE ☺

NAME A BLACK MUSLIM WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO YOU.

My older sister. From a young age, she exposed me to our greatness and our history. She gifted me The Autobiography of Malcolm X and would give me mini-lessons on Black history. Her lessons made up for the school system’s failures.
