Humaira is the founder and Executive Director of Healthy Muslim Families. Humaira is a community builder and a women empowerment leader. Her time is divided between running Healthy Muslim Families, that she founded in 2020, and running legal clinics and other community projects. Some of the projects she is leading are Support for Victims of Domestic Violence in the Muslim Community, the Restorative Justice and Court Diversion program. These programs bridge gaps in legal literacy and service delivery for racialized newcomers and address longstanding barriers rooted in systemic inequity. A JD graduate, Humaira’s work is guided by a commitment to equity, access to justice, and the creation of culturally safe spaces for those often excluded from mainstream legal systems. Humaira was the recipient of the UNPAC Human Rights award in 2017 by the Provincial Council of Women of Manitoba, ‘Executive of the Year’ in 2024 by Purple Ribbon awards for her contributions to Gender-Based Violence work, and recently the Justice Rosalie Silberman Abella Prize 2025 by the Royal Society of Canada.
