WHAT HAVE BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECTS OF YOUR WORK SO FAR?

Whether it’s designing florals for an occasion or organizing an event, being able to connect with people personally has been one of the most rewarding parts of my work. Being a part of special and meaningful moments in people’s lives brings me so much joy and is a great motivation to continue doing what I love.

WHAT HAVE BEEN SOME OF THE MORE CHALLENGING ASPECTS?

While working with people is rewarding, it is also very challenging. It’s been a struggle being a Black Muslim woman in the event industry. Navigating spaces where I’m subtly and obviously being discriminated against because of my colour or dress has been quite challenging. I often find myself being the representative of my race or religion. It’s been frustrating and tiring.

NAME A BLACK MUSLIM WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION TO YOU.

My mother Kareema Quick and my grandmother Louise Harris. Both women inspired many and gave so much of themselves to community and family.
