Founder & CEO, Renewify Inc.; Applied AI Engineer, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED)
Dr. Ayşe Rumeysa Mohammed blends high-tech innovation with grassroots social change. She holds a PhD and works as an Applied AI Engineer and researcher at Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, holding two patents and applying analytical rigor and systems thinking to environmental solutions. Alongside this, she is the Founder and CEO of Renewify Inc., an award-winning circular enterprise tackling the fast-fashion crisis through zero-waste textile upcycling, built on a “double bottom line” business model that pairs environmental impact with flexible, dignified, and accessible employment for women seeking financial independence or rebuilding their lives.
An endurance athlete and passionate educator, Ayşe actively mentors the next generation of founders, hosting practical workshops – including her “40-minute founder” sessions – that break down systemic barriers and equip aspiring entrepreneurs, particularly women, with the tangible skills to launch and scale purpose-driven ventures.
Her civic engagement extends beyond her enterprise: she mobilizes public support through creative fundraisers such as documentary screenings, auctions, and comedy nights for global emergency relief efforts, and works to combat systemic discrimination in the federal public service through her involvement with the Public Service Alliance of Canada’s Racialized Members’ Action Committee. Across her work in engineering, entrepreneurship, and advocacy, she consistently demonstrates that ethical innovation, environmental stewardship, and community-led social justice are inseparable parts of modern leadership.
