In Solidarity for Freedom of Speech and our Humanity

With each passing day more and more innocent lives are being lost.  Indiscriminate and ruthless bombardments are obliterating neighbourhoods, decimating institutions and wiping out homes of countless families.  Even hospitals are not spared. Over 5000 Palestinian civilians, over 2000 children among them, have been killed ruthlessly in Gaza.  Palestinian death toll in the Occupied West Bank continues to rise.  This devastating loss of life defies humanity and can only be seen as dehumanization of the Palestinian people, with their lives being considered less valuable by the Israeli government and its allies.

This violence is also taking a toll on our lives here in Canada.  Visibly Muslim women are experiencing Islamophobic attacks.  Muslims are being denied jobs or are losing them for expressing their sympathies with the Palestinian people and our freedom of expression and civil liberties are being curtailed and challenged senselessly.

We mourn the loss of both Israeli and Palestinian lives and call for an immediate cease fire and ask our politicians to urge for a humanitarian and legal solution in line with international laws.

In solidarity with all oppressed peoples, we call on all allies to support Gazans through humanitarian aid via IDRF.
