CCMW Wisdom & Healing Circle: Wisdom for Collective Grief

March 24, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

The first workshop of the series will focus on the collective grief the Palestinian, Sudanese and Congolese communities are facing and bearing witness to. Co-facilitated by Art Therapist Candidate and Psychotherapist (Qualifying) Tasha Nadia Matar, and Certified Counsellor Amira Abutaa, this healing space will support participants to reconnect with their ancestral wisdom through art-making and storytelling.

Amira Abutaa – Youth Counsellor

Amira Abutaa is a passionate advocate and mental health professional. She is a Canadian Certified Counselor and is currently a member of the Canadian Counselling Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). She is the Youth Counselor at Abrar Trauma and Mental Health Services and a Newcomer Youth Advisor at the YMCA. Amira provides mental health support at Abrar TMH through one-on-one counselling, group counselling and workshop facilitation, both online and in-person. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, and the Addictions and Mental Health post-graduate certificate program at Humber college. Learn more here

Natasha Matar – RSW/ Art Psychotherapy Intern

Tasha, a mixed queer Palestinian-Polish therapist, values therapy as a sacred space for self-discovery. Fluent in English, with a beginner’s level in French and Arabic, she embraces diverse spiritual backgrounds and experiences. Tasha specializes in trauma-informed therapy, blending art psychotherapy and somatic approaches to help clients navigate racial, political, and interpersonal trauma. Through her personal journey and work with refugees, she understands the profound impact of play and creativity in healing. Learn more here
