This webinar is part of a free public series hosted by CCMW’s Leadership & Mentorship Pilot Program, exploring the tools and relationships that move careers forward for Muslim and racialized women.
For many Muslim and racialized women, the networks where career-defining relationships form: after-work drinks, informal check-ins, unofficial “who do you know” conversations – have never been fully accessible.
“When Muslim women are left out of social spaces (e.g., after-work drinks, prayer-clashing meetings), they miss visibility and advancement opportunities.” — ASPIRE Study Participant
“They said networking was the key to promotion, but all the events were at bars after work. I couldn’t go, and I knew it put me at a disadvantage.” — ASPIRE Study Participant
This free public webinar looks at how to build networks – both inside and outside the workplace – that actually work in your favour. Research shows the impact compounds fast: each sponsor in your network measurably increases your odds of promotion, and having several can make advancement several times more likely. This session is about building that kind of network intentionally, on your own terms.
You’ll walk away understanding:
- The different types of professional networks – informal, formal, and external; and how each supports career advancement
- The “multiplier effect”: why sponsorship compounds a network’s impact, and how building one intentionally supports visibility and advancement for Muslim and racialized women
- How to assess if networking opportunities and formats align with your values and goals, and when and how to additionally leverage values aligned external networks
- Understand the impact of AI on reshaping professional networking and critically assess if and how these tools can genuinely reduce barriers and advance career pathways for Muslim and racialized women
- One practical next step for strengthening your network, including an external community or network relevant to your field
- What the CCMW Leadership & Mentorship Pilot offers
We hope that you can join us for this and all sessions in this series!
