About the Book

Minarets on the Horizon chronicles the life of Muslim pioneers building a community in Canada.

Minarets on the Horizon is a ground-breaking work on the Muslim pioneers who helped to build Canadian Muslim communities.

The book provides a detailed look at Muslim presence in Canada.Told partially in their own words, the stories collected here give us a rare insight into the lives and successes of pioneer Muslims.

Murray was one of the pioneers of the original Muslim Society of Toronto. He is the key between our past and our future as Canadian Muslims and his own recollections and interviews with other pioneers are very important. Many of those pioneers have passed away, and Murray’s interviews and recollections are all that we have left of them.
