Nominate a Woman Who Inspires!

On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, the Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) is pleased to launch a campaign to recognize Canadian Muslim “Women Who Inspire.” Nominate a Canadian Muslim woman who has made a contribution in areas such as, but not limited to:

Arts & Culture
Business/Professions
Challenging Stereotypes
Communications/Media
Community Development
Education

International Development
Health
Leadership
Public Service
Religion/interfaith relations Science & Technology

Social Justice
Sports
Volunteerism
Women’s and Human Rights

Eligibility requirements

  • Nominee must be a Canadian Muslim woman living in Canada. Her work may have made a difference within or outside of Canada.
  • Nominee must demonstrate a commitment to improving the lives of others.
  • Nominee must demonstrate a commitment to women’s equality.
  • Current CCMW national board members and staff cannot be nominated.
  • Nominations not submitted as per the guidelines may be disqualified.
Submission guidelines
  • Nominators must answer the five criteria questions
  • Nominators must submit a short biography/resume of the nominee.
  • Nominators must submit a completed nomination form.
  • A complete nominations package (answers to the five questions, a CV of the nominee and the nomination form) must be submitted either by mail or by email. Please do not split application package between email and regular mail.
  • No videos, books, CDs or other materials may be submitted.
Selection process

The Selection Committee will comprise of representatives of CCMW board and chapter members. Nominations will be assessed against the criteria questions.
Selected Women Who Inspire will be recognized at an awards ceremony following CCMW’s 25th Anniversary Conference on October 27, 2007, in Toronto. Award recipients must be able to attend the awards ceremony, and participate in pre-event media and promotion of the awards.

  1. How has your nominee’s work/achievements positively promoted Muslim women's image and identity in the Canadian context?25 points
  2. What would you say are the immediate and long-term impacts of your nominee’s work a) on Muslim communities and b) on the larger Canadian society (25 points)
  3. How does your nominee demonstrate her commitment to women’s equality? 15 points
  4. How does your nominee demonstrate leadership? How has she inspired and led others in her chosen field? 15 Points
  5. How has your nominee embraced diversity and inclusion within Muslim communities and in the broader Canadian society? 15 points
