Nominations now open for CCMW’s annual Muslim “Women Who Inspire” awards

1 February, 2010 – The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) is inviting nominations for its annual Muslim “Women Who Inspire” awards. The initiative was launched in 2007 in celebration of the council’s 25^th anniversary.

A key objective of the initiative is to provide role models for girls and women and promote a positive image of Canadian Muslim women who have made a difference within or outside Canada. At least one of the women selected will be 30 years of age or under. Nominations are now open for Canadian Muslim women who have:

• demonstrated a commitment to improving the lives of others.
• demonstrated a commitment to women’s equality
• participated in grassroots activism or demonstrated a commitment to civic engagement.

Selected Women Who Inspire will be recognized at an awards ceremony later this year.

Nominations must be received by April 30, 2010 by email at ccmw_board@yahoo.ca with the subject line “Women Who Inspire Nomination” or mail to Eman Ahmed, 16 Harrison Garden Blvd, Apt 812, Toronto M2N 7J6.
